10 free Steam games to dive into this weekend

From walking simulators to romancing toilets

The weekend is finally here and although there are plenty of big releases to get stuck into, we have to give the underdogs some love too.

As a way to do this, I have compiled a list of ten brand-new Steam games which you can try out for free on PC right now.

So if you are on the lookout for a new horror, a walking simulator (quite literally) or if you are feeling in the mood for love, then you are guaranteed to find something interesting on this list.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the games.

First up is Skull Horde, an auto battler dungeon crawler where you will take on the role of a flying skull necromancer. Edgy, right?

Find powerful loot and create equally as powerful builds as you summon hordes of skeletons to do your bidding in bone versus flesh.

Next is the psychological horror title Oniria.

Alternating between 2D and 3D aesthetics, this first-person title will see you relive buried trauma whilst exploring the forgotten town of Oniria in search of an heirloom left to you by your father.

With a retro aesthetic, this psychological horror title will have you explore grief, loss and terror as you explore a remote part of Spain.

We are back to horror with Abject Abyss, a first-person adventure where you will get to explore a cutting-edge research facility and piece together what went wrong.

However, with horrors lurking in the dark, you will soon have to evade or just run if you wish to stay alive in your search for secrets.

Re:VER PROJECT -TOKYO-/
Nestopi Inc.

Now it is time to cut down on the horror (for a moment) to tell you about Re: Ver Project - Tokyo -.

This indie action-adventure title will see you take on the role of Yukinori Amane who has been falsely accused of a crime. Now he will have to use his survival skills to evade the police and find the real culprit in a pixel-art modern Tokyo.

Now we are back to the horror and this time it is with The Silent Witness.

In this action-adventure RPG, you will become a detective who must uncover the secrets behind a brutal murder.

“The forest holds the documents. The warehouse hides the body.”

However, when you return to the forest, you find that it has changed and now someone is watching you and they don’t want you to leave.

Sometimes walking is hard and that is definitely the case for Nate, our main character in Baby Steps.

Players will take on the role of “an unemployed failson with nothing going for him” in this walking simulator.

However, that all changes when Nate discovers that he can just put one foot in front of the other. Literally.

If you are a fan of games that will make you lose your mind out of frustration and yet give you all of the dopamine when you finally overcome it, this is the one for you.

No, I'm Not a Human/
Trioskaz

No, I’m not a Human is a single-player, story-rich horror where you will need to stay inside and lock your doors.

“Close the blinds. Only let humans in. Eliminate all Visitors. An anxiety horror about paranoia in the End of Times.”

With your every decision changing the outcome of the game, you must do whatever it takes to keep yourself safe at the end of the world.

Next is MassEve, a roguelike set in a quantum world on the edge of a revolution.

In this fast-paced, twin-stick shooter roguelike, players will dive into the mysteries of modern physics and no pressure, but the universe kind of depends on their choices.

In a world that defies physics, bends reality and collapses probabilities, anything is possible.

Martial arts meets music in Dead as Disco, a neon-drenched beat ‘em up where every punch, kick, and combo will sync to the music.

You will join Charlie Disco as he confronts the villainous idols and fights to reunite the band.

Last but certainly not least is Date Everything!

I’m sure you have all already heard about this latest dating simulator but if you are still unsure if dating inanimate objects for you, you can check it out on Steam for free courtesy of a demo.

Featuring 100 fully voiced household objects/datable characters, falling in love has never been easier… or wilder.

All of these titles and thousands more are free to check out on Steam right now so if you are a PC gamer, make the Valve storefront your one-stop-shop.
