An upcoming CRPG has just announced its newest cast member, and it’s certainly one for fans of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur Morgan.
Starfinder: Afterlight is currently in the final days of its Kickstarter campaign, and it looks as though the upcoming RPG is ticking all the right boxes.
Being based on the Starfinder 2e TTRPG system, it looks like the type of game that could convert over a lot of Baldur’s Gate 3 fans. That’s especially as it seems to be hitting a Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars vibe, too.
The game already boasts a rather impressive casting decision by bringing in Baldur’s Gate 3’s Neil Newbon for voice direction, and it appears as though it’s expanding that by also casting Roger Clark as well to play the narrator. Clark played Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, a role that gained him critical success, including winning Best Performance at The Game Awards 2018.

From the sounds of it, Clark will be channeling the rootin’ tootin’ persona of everybody’s favourite outlaw, and given he’s playing the narrator, you’ll be hearing him a lot. And from the video that's been shared, it sounds like he’s having a lot of fun with it.
What is Starfinder: Afterlight?
“The galaxy faces annihilation, your captain has vanished, and doomsday looms,” reads the official Steam description for Starfinder: Afterlight. “Assemble a crew of misfits from across the stars and become the legends in this single player party-based RPG.

“Find 6 unique companions scattered across the stars—from android assassins to mystic prophets. Each brings personal stories and moral dilemmas. The bonds you forge through triumph and loss will determine their destinies—and whether the galaxy survives.
“Experience turn-based tactical combat with Starfinder's classes—Soldier, Envoy, Operative, Mystic, Solarian and Witchwarper. Use Paizo's critically acclaimed three-action system to fuel endless strategies. Level up and collect alien gear while battling everything from Hellknights to digital ghosts.
“Experience a branching narrative where choices matter. Nothing is forbidden—everything has consequences. Choose salvation or profit, mercy or vengeance. Factions remember your deeds, companions judge your heart, creating hundreds of unique paths.”
Starfinder: Afterlight is currently in the final throes of its Kickstarter campaign, in which it’s currently raised around nearly £600,000. Considering its initial goal was only £65,777, I’d say that’s a rather resounding success.
