'Star Wars: The Old Republic' Gets Stunning New Trailer

Gaming fans of the Star Wars franchise have been blessed recently with a whole slew of announcements and teasers. EA announced last month that three Star Wars games were in the works by Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor. Not only are Respawn working on a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, but also an FPS title based on the galactic empire. Meanwhile Bit Reactor is using its XCOM chops to develop a Star Wars strategy title.

But wait there's more. If that's not enough Jedi vs Sith action for everyone Quantic Dream are working on a Star Wars game in the genre its best known for - narrative - with Star Wars Eclipse. Dynasty Warriors developers Koei Tecmo have expressed interest in a Star Wars themed musou game as well. Phew. If none of those genres tickle your pickle then how about the new expansion for the Star Wars MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic?

Want to watch the new trailer for yourself? It's all here in the video below.

The expansion Legacy Of The Sith comes out today and the team has launched it with a CGI cinematic trailer so you can see just what has been in the works. Developed by Bioware and LucasFilm Games, the new trailer shows Sa'har, a young Jedi in training, lightsaber battles and copious amounts of the force. With a trailer that looks this good it's hard to believe it's all CG.

There's no gameplay here, but we do see a bit of the backstory which shows how easy it could be for a Jedi to turn Sith. The Old Republic is known for its excellence in cinematic trailers with this one, Disorder, being the sixth one released.
