It has officially been 30 years since the animated show Spider-Man first aired and it seems like its producer and head writer is ready to revisit the story once more.

First airing in 1994 and telling the story of Peter Parker developing his spider-like powers whilst juggling daily life and fighting super villains, the animated show ran until 1998 for a total of five seasons.

Check out the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer below!

Written by John Semper, this show was the first time the “Spider-Verse” storyline and idea was introduced which has led to the Spider-Verse movies in recent years.

With 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse and 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the animated film series by Sony Pictures went on to meet critical acclaim. However, it is a common fact that not many fans know that the concept was created by Semper.

More shockingly, Semper has not been credited in the movies for his idea and the writer took to Twitter to share his frustrations.

“Hey, Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and Christina Steinberg - even though you've never seen fit to thank me in your credits for creating the Spider-Verse concept - You're welcome, anyway!” he wrote in response to an article which saw the aforementioned creators awarded for their work on the recent movies.

It is a shocking oversight but gave fans of the original Spider-Man animated show the chance to ask Semper about his future plans.

One user asked: “Thoughts on Spider-Man 98!? Continuing the story like X-Men is doing!”

To which Semper replied: “All they have to do is call me. I'm here, and I'd certainly consider doing it.”

Although this is by no means a confirmation that such a project would ever happen, it is reassuring to see one of the OG creators willing to tell the story. Here’s hoping it will become a reality!
