This is incredible work!

A talented Unreal Engine 5 indie developer has recreated the opening sequence of Skyrim and as gorgeous as it is, it’s also terrifying!

When we talk about the best fantasy RPGs of all-time, the chances are many will mention three titles from Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series, namely, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.

Check out The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim trailer below!

There have been rumours making the rounds that Bethesda has neared the completion of a full remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion which was originally released in 2006 on PC and Xbox 360, before arriving on PlayStation 3 the following year.

Some might consider Oblivion to be the best game in The Elder Scrolls series, so if Bethesda is to announce the official remake as early as next month, it will no doubt please its legion of fans.

In the meantime, as reported by DSOGaming, the aforementioned Unreal Engine 5 indie developer, Leo Torres has been hard at work recreating some of the most iconic moments in Skyrim’s version of Tamriel.

Leo Torres has recreated locations such as High Hrothgar, Riverwood, Windhelm and more recently, the opening location of Skyrim, Helgen. You know, the place where the elder dragon, Alduin aka the World-Eater, absolutely destroys the small village just before you get your noggin chopped off.

This moment in the original version of 2011’s Skyrim was terrifying enough but this gorgeous Unreal Engine 5 remake takes that terror to the next level (and then some).

Powered by an NVIDIA RTX 3090 and rendered using Unreal Engine 5.4 software, this fan-made Skyrim remake certainly looks to be more than 16x the detail of the original game.

Unfortunately, the remakes created by Leo Torres have not been made public, most likely to avoid Bethesda from taking them down, which is understandable. Nonetheless, they are enjoyable to watch.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
