Skyrim finally officially remade in Unreal Engine 5

We heard you like remasters, so we put a remaster in your remaster

Are you sick of hearing about how many times Bethesda has rereleased The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?

Well, um, I have some bad news for you, because Bethesda sort of just remastered Skyrim again using the power of Unreal Engine 5.

Ok, well, not exactly, but at the same time it’s not untrue. Just let me explain.

So, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered dropped last night. If that’s news to you, congrats. If not, here’s how that’s relevant towards The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

One user over on Twitter realised that, if you’re a little crafty, you can actually just straight up see a remastered version of Skyrim within The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

How? I’ll let them explain.

“This is what Skyrim looks like in Oblivion Remastered,” posted user Synth Potato.

“Toggled freecam and was surprised to see that the landmass of Skyrim is there, you can tell points of interests and especially High Hrothgar, pretty insane to see this landmass on Unreal Engine 5 even if its just LODs.”

Now, before you get too excited, they haven’t actually physically transported themselves to the land of Skyrim. All you can do is look at it. But, hey, it sure does look pretty.

It makes sense, obviously, as Oblivion’s setting, Cyrodiil, is right next to Skyrim in The Elder Scrolls universe. You could actually go over to Skyrim in the original Oblivion if you wanted, but you’d just end up phasing through a bunch of textures with no collision.

Would the same happen if you did that in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered? I can’t say for sure, but I’d assume that same thing would happen.

Here’s hoping someone tries to soon, though. I mean, what if that’s where the second trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI is?
