Square Glade Games has dropped a new free demo for Outbound, the upcoming cosy home designer coming later this year.

When we caught a glimpse of Outbound back in 2025, we called it a game that would be sure to steal our hearts whenever it arrives.

Outbound is a game where you design and build a mobile home in a near-future utopian world. You begin with an empty camper van, and then turn it into the home of your dreams.

It looks to be appealing to The Sims and Stardew Valley crowd, especially with its relaxed gameplay and soft colours. The art style also reminds me of Firewatch a little, which is never a bad thing.

Outbound Demo Should Give You A Large Chunky Taste Of The Full Game

Well, if you’d like to try the game out for yourself, a free demo is now available on Steam for you to download.

The demo features approximately three hours of exploration, and is open-ended in the sense that you can continue playing after hitting the end.

However, don’t expect all of the game’s features and content to be included in the demo, there’s going to be a lot more that will be available later on.

It’s also multiplayer-supported, allowing you to play with your friends together.

In addition to that, Square Glade Games also encourages players to stream the demo, and share any creations you make with the community.

I’ll be diving into the demo today to see what it’s all about. I’m not a massive cosy game fan, but I enjoy games with lots of customisation, so this has certainly caught my attention.

The blurb on Outbound reads: “Build and explore at your own pace.

Scavenge materials, craft, and build in and on top of your vehicle with modular parts. Advance in technology and efficiently use energy to power your home. Adjust your playstyle to adapt to new landscapes and changing environmental conditions.”

All in all, the game is shaping up to be pretty gorgeous, and should be a fun one to check out this weekend if you’re looking for new free games to check out right now.

You can download the demo for Outbound now from its store page on Steam. The full release date for the game hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s slated for “Q2 2026” so I expect we’ll hear more about it in the summer.
