June is set to be an incredibly exciting month for gamers.

On 2 June, PlayStation will hold a bumper State of Play with a rumoured runtime of 90 minutes.

That’ll be followed by Summer Game Fest on 5 June and an Xbox Showcase on 7 June, so it should be a fruitful couple of days for reveals, trailers, and updates.

Unless anything is shadowdropped, most of the announcements will likely pertain to future releases.

One game that is set to drop amid all of this though, is Fatekeeper, which has just confirmed its 2 June early access release date.

Perfect for fans of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fatekeeper is a first-person RPG from developer Paraglacial and publisher THQ Nordic.

“Venture into a handcrafted world where ruins whisper of past cataclysms,” begins the synopsis.

“Master the art of sword and sorcery and forge your path with relics, spells and choices that shape who you become in this first-person RPG.”

While the game does “invite exploration”, it seemingly follows a linear path with Fatekeeper’s devs drawing attention to its “focused narrative path”.

“From ancient battlegrounds, vast underground caverns and serene forests to crumbling sanctuaries forgotten by time, each area rewards curiosity with hidden lore, forgotten relics, and unexpected encounters.”

New Gameplay Has Landed Ahead Of The Game’s Imminent Launch

Throughout your journey, you’ll face off against a wide variety of fantasy creatures, making use of several weapons, including an axe and sword.

You can also unleash spells which may fling your enemy away or throw fire their way, for example.

It’s very much up to you how you shape your character with Fatekeeper, noting that “your build matters, but so does how you wield it”.

As this is an RPG, you will be able to upgrade your build and character with a wide array of skills to select from.

“Build and refine your character with meaningful choices across combat styles, attributes, and spell schools,” devs advise.

“Whether you lean into raw strength, nimble precision, or devastating sorcery, the game supports a wide range of viable and unique builds.”

You can get a feel for the title’s gameplay in Fatekeeper’s new trailer below.

For now, Fatekeeper is only due to land on PC where, as mentioned, it’ll arrive on 2 June.

That’ll mark the start of its early access period. Hopefully, when Fatekeeper exits early access, we might see it ported over to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S.

Much like last year’s Avowed, Fatekeeper feels primed to tap into the hunger for The Elder Scrolls VI.

It’s unlikely, although not impossible, that The Elder Scrolls VI will pop up during next week’s Xbox Showcase.

Either way, at least Fatekeeper will already be ours to enjoy by then.
