Despite the game being out for many years, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim never fails to impress players, whether that’s due to the wealth of things to do, or the small details throughout.

It’s this reason that so many players keep coming back to Skyrim in order to try new things, see favourite places once again, and to interact with the companions.

One of those companions, Serana, is actually programmed a bit differently to others, and it creates an odd AI pattern to how she interacts with the world around her.

After one fan noticed her praying with the Greybeards, and posting it to Reddit, other users stepped in to explain why she’s a little different to other companions.

It fell to Biolaser1, who comments, “she will engage with any idle animation point (mining, leaning on a wall, chopping wood etc.) that’s nearby. For instance, she will cower in front of the shrine of Molag Bal (on brand) if you bring her to the Abandoned House.”

“She started using the forge during Kodlak’s funeral, lmao!” exclaimed another player reporting on Serana’s antics.

It’s certainly a bizarre quirk from Bethesda, and one that doesn’t seem to have much of an explanation, either.

One fan jokes, “Leave her be, she's been in a tomb for thousands of years ofc she's gonna want to do everything.”

Add this to the long list of unexpected things found in Skyrim. This game is going to be played for decades to come, and it wouldn’t surprise to see fans finding new interactions over that time.

Another player tells of their interactions with Serana, saying, “If you have her with you when you find Valdr, she’ll curl up in agony right next to him. Apparently, “fetal position” is an idle action.”

Let this queen do whatever the heck she wants, she’s on her own side quests.
