Skyrim gets brand-new quest about taking down the Thalmor

A new mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has introduced a questline that allows players to put an end to a Thalmor plot.

Since releasing back in 2011, Bethesda’s smash-hit Skyrim has been replayed countless times, and kept alive by a dedicated community of modders (as well as several re-releases). Now, two creators have released a mod that lets the player battle alongside an Elven knight in a quest to take down the Thalmor.

In ‘The Welkynar Knight - Quest’, created by wSkeever and Kreiste, the Dragonborn is recruited by Nirenoore, an Altemer knight who wants to stop the Thalmor with your help. The quest features multiple dialogue options, allowing the player to change the course of the quest, which will ultimately determine whether Nirenoore joins you as a full-fledged companion, so think carefully about what you say and do.

Take a look at some of our favourite Skyrim wins and fails below.

There’s also a load of new armour and weaponry to get your hands on, called the ‘Winged Hussar Armour and Weapons’ set, which can be crafted after completing the main questline. Also featured in the mod is voice-acting, but not by a person. The voiced dialogue in the game was produced by an AI, but it’s the thought that counts. If a new companion, a unique story and some more gear to add to your arsenal sounds of interest, then you should definitely check this mod out over on Nexus Mods.

Skyrim’s follow-up, The Elder Scrolls VI, still seems to be a very long way off, so given that Elder Scrolls players will have to wait patiently for the next instalment in the series, it’s great that there are so many talented modders working away to keep the game fresh.

Speaking of fresh, ever wondered what the world of Skyrim would look like in Unreal Engine 5? Well a 3D artist has created a demo of just that.
