I sincerely hope that you weren’t already bored of Skyrim. It seems plausible that the next Elder Scrolls game could still be a full decade away, despite it already being almost 12 years since the most recent iteration’s release.

I’m not going to profess to be an expert here, but developing games takes a lot of work - there’s no doubt about it. And - forgive me for stating the obvious - if a game is enormous, it’s going to take even longer to make. For that reason alone, I’m sure we all knew that it was going to be quite a few years before The Elder Scrolls VI ever blessed our eyes, but admittedly, it’s a bit of a shock to hear just how much longer we could be waiting.

Take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Skyrim below.

As IGN reports, a recent amended complaint in a lawsuit against Microsoft’s plans to acquire Activision Blizzard makes reference to a redacted “forthcoming title” from an established franchise. It reads: “Halo Infinite, a recent title from Microsoft's first-party Halo franchise, was in production [REDACTED], and cost almost [REDACTED] million to develop and bring to market. Other Triple-A games take even longer to develop. For instance, according to one Microsoft executive, [REDACTED], a forthcoming title from the [REDACTED] franchise, may take a decade to develop.”

So, what could it be? IGN’s executive editor, Ryan McCaffrey, tweeted: “$20 says the redacted game being referred to here is The Elder Scrolls VI. Todd Howard already confirmed to me [one and a half] years ago that it was in pre-production at that time. Pre-pro and full production (starting late '23 or early '24?) will likely total ~10 years.”

However, this is still pure speculation - the redacted game could be something we don’t know anything about yet. Sadly, it seems like we’re in for a very long wait before we find out, so don't hold your breath..
