Skyrim fans are roasting a ridiculous XP exploit that, to be honest, surprises me that it can still be done.
Is it cheating if it’s technically a mechanic in the game? A question perhaps asked by many gamers who use exploits, and to be fair, it’s a good point. One such exploit exists in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The exploit that is the topic of today’s article has been present in Skyrim for years, and to this day, it’s still not been patched out by Bethesda. That being said, many others and I are not complaining.

The exploit that is the topic of today’s discussion reminds me of the ‘sneak’ XP boost during the very beginning of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that I had forgotten about until I played the recently released remaster.
In a nutshell, in Oblivion, if you crouch-walk when being let out of the dungeon before you venture into the open lands of Cyrodiil, you’ll earn a ton of XP for your ‘sneak’ ability, and there’s even an exploit for lockpicking to take advantage of early on.

“Just shoot Magelight to the top of the mountain, and then your Alteration level increases to 100. What is the logic behind this?” asked Yossiri, presumably asking why this exploit works.

“Magelight grants XP on arrival based on how long it travelled. What you have found is a place where you are on the near edge of render distance, but there are tricks to increase it even further,” answered Jewbacca1991 in a different thread.
“Until I read the comments here, I thought this was a joke post where the sun was a cast 'Magelight' that was so powerful it immediately levelled Alteration to 100,” replied Doru-kun
“How is this the first time I'm hearing about this? Hundreds of hours of my life that could’ve been spent elsewhere levelling Alteration,” exclaimed Actaeon_II.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on just about every platform imaginable. As for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, that’s out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
