A brand new mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is adding some exciting new boss fights to Bethesda’s hit 2011 RPG, by reworking some unique encounters into far more dangerous enemies.

I don’t think I’m alone in saying that, even when playing on Survival, Skyrim can feel a little too easy sometimes.

Sure, you could intentionally hamstring yourself by imposing certain extra rules or banning the use of specific spells or items, but most fights can be pretty easy to get through with appropriately levelled gear and potions.

That’s why I think a new mod for the game over on Nexus looks particularly appealing, because it doesn’t just add some damage-sponge enemies to the game that can one-shot you; it actually reworks pre-existing foes so that they offer more of a challenge.

Age of Great Beasts - Vanilla Creature Bosses Integration is a freshly uploaded mod from author TheSteppeNomad that aims to convert some of the furrier enemies in the game into genuinely challenging encounters.

The mod alters three specific enemies in Skyrim that, considering their importance, are a little bit too easy to best.

This includes the bear that lies in wait for you at the end of the Helgen cave during the game’s intro, the randomly named horker Lord Tusk that can be found on Horker Island, and the unique troll Udefrykte that you find during the events of the Dark Brotherhood quest The Cure for Madness.

The mod also adds some extra loot as a reward for besting these enhanced enemies, such as decent early game items for killing the Helgen cave bear and a unique summoning spell as a reward for killing Udefrykte.

I think the Helgen bear one is especially neat, as the mod author even states that the bear will grow stronger if you don’t opt to defeat it during your first run-in with it.

Now, let’s see someone add a chicken boss fight to the game. I wanna fight one of those suckers that’s bigger than a house.
