Someone has figured out exactly how many steps it would take for you to cross Skyrim’s entire map… by actually walking across it, using their feet. In real life.
Well, not in “real life” as in they magically transported themselves to Skyrim. Look, maybe it’s better you just watch the video for yourself.
Bethesda loves a big old map. But exactly how big is the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? How many steps would it take a person to walk from one end of it to the other?
About 14,000. Not gonna lie, I expected it to be a whole lot more than that.

However, there is a bit of a twist here that makes things more interesting, because YouTuber ShakeMistake decided to undertake this task by physically walking the entire route.
As ShakeMistake explains, this was achieved by using an app called Stepl. You can bind the app to a key on your keyboard, and it will then register that the key is pressed whenever you walk in place.
Perhaps even more surprisingly, ShakeMistake doesn’t look absolutely knackered by the end of it. Think I nearly pulled a muscle in my leg opening the fridge door this morning.
Over in the thread detailing their journey on the r/skyrim subreddit, fans are mostly just shocked at how low the number of steps ended up being.

“That's surprisingly not as many as I thought. I'd expect it to be like 140k steps across the map lol”, commented user CallmeSirRupert.
“Well that means the way up to high Hrothgar isn't 7000 steps then is it”, replied user Plantain-Feeling.
“Fu**in lying ass mountain.”
Would love to see what the number ends up working out as in something like Fallout 4 too… if you can even make it to the other side without a Deathclaw mauling you to death, that is.
