Riddick: Furya first teaser drops as Vin Diesel returns

Riddick: Furya first teaser drops as Vin Diesel returns

Vin Diesel is set to reprise his role as Riddick

It seems as though Vin Diesel will be reprising his role as the famed space convict in Riddick: Furya which has officially entered full production.

The sci-fi action series first burst onto our screens in 2000 with Pitch Black which told the story of Diesel’s Riddick as he finds himself stranded on a dangerous planet.

Followed by 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013’s Riddick, the sci-fi series has had quite a bit of a hiatus. However, after Diesel expressed interest in returning to the series back in 2014, it seems as though his wish has been granted.

Titled Riddick: Furya, the fourth instalment will see Diesel reprise his role as Richard B. Riddick as well as taking on the role of the film’s producer under his production house, One Race Films.

Now in full production and expected to begin shooting this August, its cast and crew will be heading to Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom to film the next entry.

Riddick: Furya’s press release reads: “Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”

With 2013’s Riddick getting quite mixed reviews due to its “muddled storyline” and “monotonous length”, it remains to be seen if Riddick: Furya will bring the sci-fi series back to its former glory.

Luckily, this could be possible with Diesel himself saying he would like the fourth film to examine “where it all started” with Riddick’s character. This might mean a revival might be on the cards after a 10-year wait.
