Resident Evil meets Borderlands in zombie-packed new FPS

We're just trying to survive

Extraction gameplay is the hot new thing, ever since Escape from Tarkov nailed a brand-new genre, developers have begun chasing that high for themselves.

Whenever these games take place within an apocalyptic scenario, they tend to excel, as you’re already surviving something grim and needing to escape every area with loot is important, so it’s no surprise to see zombies and extraction gameplay mixed in The Midnight Walkers.

The Midnight Walkers looks chaotic and action-packed

Combining flavours of Resident Evil with Borderlands, it’s all about avoiding zombies (or bashing their heads in) while hoovering up that sweet loot to live another day.

Pulling directly from the Steam page, The Midnight Walkers is “a PvPvE first-person zombie extraction game set in Liberty Grand Center, a towering mega-complex overrun by deadly zombies and brutal bosses”.

Due for release some time this year, this is sure to attract fans of horror games who want a bit more action to deal with.

The trailer looks chaotic, going up against horrible creatures intent on murdering you, then you have to deal with other players intent on the same thing.

The game will have a solo mode for those friendless players, or trios, if you actually have some friends, and all the action takes place in a mega-building.

It seems that rather than having separate maps for regions of a world, instead you’ll enter different floors of the building, like casinos, hospitals, or shopping malls.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any interplay between each floor, and how the action spreads throughout.

The game’s description mentions a poison gas that can kill players, and it has me wondering if it’s a constantly shifting zone, like a battle royale, or a way to time each raid so you don’t spend forever looting.

I started the day knowing nothing about The Midnight Walkers, but now I’m very intrigued.
