The original Resident Evil is getting another remake, and a trailer is available to watch now.
Next year, Resident Evil will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with the ninth game, Requiem, releasing in February.
There are also some rumoured remakes in development, with Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0 being the most likely candidates. But there hasn’t been official confirmation on these yet.
However, Resident Evil fans desperate to see the first game remade again might not have to wait as long.

Biohazard RE1 is a community project by a team made up of Resident Evil fans called Team Arklay. Their mission is to remake the original 1996 game in Unreal Engine 5, and it looks pretty stunning from what we’ve seen so far.
The project has a gameplay trailer available to watch on YouTube, which you can view below.

The trailer shows off several of the main characters as they explore Spencer Mansion, and demonstrates some of the next-gen level graphics available in the remake.
We get a good look at the character models, which appear to be more based off their likenesses in the more recent Resident Evil games. Especially Jill Valentine, who appears to be based on her appearance in the Resident Evil 3 remake.
The video also reveals that two camera modes will be available for the remake, letting you play from either a third-person over the shoulder perspective or a fixed-camera mode like the original.
Of course, the original Resident Evil did receive a remake in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube. The Biohazard RE1 project also appears to be taking some cues from that game for this release, but is otherwise treating this as its own thing to slot in with the other remakes Capcom has been releasing in the last five years.
