Insomniac Games has announced a release date for its upcoming Marvel's Wolverine video game.

We knew that Insomniac Games was prepping to release its Wolverine game later in 2026, but an exact release date was not clear for quite some time.

It was believed that due to the November release date for GTA VI, the game would be dropping earlier than that.

Marvel's Wolverine Gets September Release Date

Announced by Insomniac Games on X (formerly Twitter) just now, Marvel's Wolverine will release on 15 September, 2026.

"Let's cut to the chase: Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15, 2026," Insomniac posted on X.

This puts it around two months before GTA VI launches in November, just enough time to experience Logan's story before we all set flight to Vice City.

Attached to the post is a small teaser showcasing the release date. It's unknown when Insomniac plans to show off more gameplay from the release, but we imagine it'll be closer to the summer.

Marvel's Wolverine draws on the comic book mythology of the X-Men, and features other characters from that canon like Mystique, Omega Red, and the Sentinels. It's entirely possible that a lot more X-Men characters will be appearing in the final game as well, beyond what Insomniac has teased so far.

The game follows James "Logan" Howlett, better known as Wolverine, who is a mutant with special abilities like retractable claws, heightened animalistic instincts and advanced healing.

It's also set in the same continuity as Insomniac's Spider-Man series, which saw its most recent entry in 2023 to lots of praise from critics and fans.

It was originally announced in 2021 alongside Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and with the game finally in the last stretches of development, fans will be able to get their claws into the game when the release comes in September.
