Red Dead Redemption finally remade with RDR2 graphics is absolutely stunning

Rockstar's original Red Dead Redemption has been remade with RDR2 graphics by one dedicated fan.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the greatest gaming franchises of all-time, so it’s criminal that we don’t have a third entry. Given the colossal success of the series, a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 feels like a no-brainer, surely? Rockstar are full steam ahead on Grand Theft Auto VI - as they should be - but I’m curious to find out what’s next.

Thankfully, Red Dead Redemption fans continue to find ways to make the franchise feel fresh and exciting - even if we haven’t had a new entry in five years. Just last week, one player uncovered a new combat feature. There’s also the newly-released ‘Vestigia’ mod which overhauls Red Dead Redemption 2’s open world immersion. It’s already top notch so you can imagine just how mind-blowing the results of this mod are. Let’s not also forget about the incredible LEGO Red Dead Redemption. Today though, I bring you the original Red Dead Redemption recreated by one talented fan using Red Dead 2’s graphics.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

This project is the work of YouTuber jedijosh920 who has recreated several sections of the original RDR using RDR2 graphic mods. In one video, jedijosh920 overhauls RDR’s intro and first mission ‘Exodus in America’, where we meet John Marston for the first time before he departs Blackwater for Armadillo. In another, jedijosh920 recreated - incoming story spoiler warning - John Marston’s death which is the final mission in RDR, ‘The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed’.

The creator doesn’t pinpoint exactly which mods were used to create the project but there’s no denying that the results are stunning. RDR2 still holds up as one of the best-looking games out there today, even without a new-gen patch. It would be nice to see an updated RDR announced by Rockstar though. The original deserves some TLC too.

Needless to say, fans were impressed with the project. One user wrote, “This video makes me want to go back and replay RDR, great job,” while another added, “This is really well done. Pretty much shot for shot.” Can we have the real thing now Rockstar?
