Red Dead Redemption 2 has a secret extra map filled with content

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans still aren’t over the loss of an extra in-game area, which was supposed to be filled with bonus content.

Five years later, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still the best work Rockstar Games has ever done, meaning Grand Theft Auto VI has some big shoes to fill in terms of size and scope.

Check out some of these hilarious Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

The highlight of the game has to be its open world, often regarded as one of the best, and most immersive worlds in gaming history by fans. While the explorable environments are enormous, it was originally going to be even bigger, with plans to let players explore the entire island of Guarma on top of the main areas.

Unfortunately, most of Guarma was cut during development, leaving only a fraction of it explorable, during what many believe to be one of the game’s most disappointing chapters.

Red Dead Redemption fan user prince_lomon expressed their disappointment with the Guarma chapter, saying: “Guarma could have been the best chapter in the game if 90% of its content had not been deleted, which revolves around treasures, secrets, hunting ordinary and legendary animals, side missions, and main missions, without forgetting the ability to return to it after completing Chapter 5.”

Others agreed, saying the Guarma they got was definitely one of the weakest parts of the game, and would been much more enjoyable if Rockstar had allowed them to explore more of the area. “Honestly, I always rush through the Guarma chapter because the place feels empty and the missions solely serve to push the plot forward. It's one of my only complaints about RDR2. Every single region and mission is immersive except for Guarma,” read one comment.

“The only way to make Guarma better was to cut it. Massively wrecks the pace of the game,” said another fan, while one added, “To be fair, if you take a moment and look back of the scope of this game, the Guarma chapter probably should not have been there. The promise of an extra island on top of everything we got on the States is just a gargantuan scope even for Rockstar.”

Rockstar is reportedly planning to develop Red Dead Redemption 3 after GTA VI comes out, meaning we could be due an even bigger, more expansive map to ride around than the one we got in Red Dead Redemption 2.
