It has been over five years since many of us experienced the end events of Red Dead Redemption 2. Coincidentally, many of us still haven’t recovered from it. Now to add even more heartbreak, one player has discovered a “final” ending that you probably missed.

As mentioned, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for five years so I think we can talk about spoilers here, right? If not, please feel free to click off as this will get pretty emotional.

Check out the Red Dead Redemption 2 launch trailer below!

The end events of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption sequel sees our second protagonist Arthur Morgan meet his untimely end. After contracting tuberculosis, Arthur peacefully succumbs to his illness under the sunrise (or he is killed by Micah if you managed to finish the game with low honour). With our protagonist dead by the epilogue, control is handed back over to John Marston and it is with this original gunslinger that you will be able to find a heartbreaking scene.

Located east of Donner Falls and northeast of Bacchus Station in Ambarino, players will be able to find Arthur’s grave on a hill overlooking the valley below. Perched against a rock and surrounded by flowers, John Marston will be able to approach the final resting place during the epilogue.

Once here, a slow and melancholic version of Unshaken by D’Angelo will play almost on the wind as John sketches down a quick drawing in his inherited journal. On a black page, John sketches Arthur’s grave and captions it with the words “Guess we’re just about done, my friend. It’s been quite a journey”.

Working as both a message to Arthur and the player, this emotional scene is a heartwarming tribute to Arthur Morgan who many agree is one of the greatest gaming protagonists of all time. It remains to be seen who will take over the mantle in Red Dead Redemption 3 but it is safe to say they will have a hard act to follow.
