Red Dead Redemption 2 fans losing their minds over leaked new release

It's almost time to ride again

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI may not be set to land until next year, but the studio seemingly has another project up its sleeve due to launch in its stead.

As I’m sure you’re aware, GTA VI is now set to release on 26 May 2026 following a delay.

It’s news that was met with disappointment, albeit disappointment that dispersed as soon as Rockstar dropped the game’s long-awaited second trailer.

Rockstar is clearly cooking, and it’s best we leave them to add the final touches.

That means that GTA VI is no longer occupying its planned fall 2025 release slot.

You need not think that Rockstar is leaving this void empty though.

According to leaker NateTheHate, Red Dead Redemption 2 will reportedly receive a new-gen update later this year.

Believed to be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, the update will reportedly bring 60fps to the game which is something fans have been yearning for for years.

NateTheHate claims that the update will drop in either August or September.

There’s no word on if it’ll be free or whether Rockstar will opt for a paid upgrade path.

Of course, I should also stress that this is all unconfirmed news at the time of writing, so do take all of this with a pinch of salt.

I will add though that NateTheHate has a decent track record, and it’s hardly an improbable move for Rockstar.

As you can imagine, even while unconfirmed, fans are absolutely thrilled by this tease.

“There will be so many fresh runs started at the same time,” said AfterImageEclipse. It’s going to be 2018 all over again.

“Big if true,” added AttemptFree.

“It's about damn time,” commented annson24.

Of course, when Rockstar does confirm (or deny) the rumour, we’ll be sure to share that news with you.

Knowing Rockstar, they’ll just announce the update at 1.26pm on a random Tuesday; there’s no predicting those renegades.
