Assassin’s Creed Studio Fan-Favourite set to Return amid Six Year Wait

One of the all-time greats

Ubisoft has been through some very up-and-down times in recent years, with plenty of legitimate reasons for fans to be annoyed at the company and how they are currently operating.

Persistent rumours continue to swell that the developer/publisher maybe up for sale in some capacity, though whether that means for the entirety of the business or for specific areas, remains unknown, putting them in a similar position to Warner Bros. Discovery.

With all of that hubub around the business side of things, it's easy to forget just how many classic games the company has under its belt over these last several decades. Assassin's Creed is the one that will immediately spring to most people's minds instantly, but there are other classics all over the place that are well worth playing, even in 2025.

Now, it seems one of those is finally about to make a comeback via a highly anticipated remake, and it could be releasing much sooner than you might expect.

As action-adventure games go, few can claim to be as iconic or influential at the time of its release than Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The game follows the unnamed Prince as he participates in a siege instigated by his father, during which he finds a mysterious artifact known as the Dagger of Time.

That dagger allows the player to manipulate time, avoiding potential death and turning the protagonist into a bit of a demon in a fight.

Ubisoft originally announced a remake for the game all the way back in 2020, with a scheduled release in 2021.

After development was completely restarted in 2022, we're finally about to get our hands on it.

As first reported by Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, the company wants to release the remake before the even more highly anticipated Black Flag, with the plan now to release this new version of Sands of Time in January 2026.

In addition, it's also looking likely that fans will get to see some of what they have been working on during The Game Awards live show, which is scheduled to go live on 11 December.

If you're more excited about being a pirate again, the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake is set to release some time before 31 March, 2026, so you won't have too long to wait for that one either.
