Pokémon's worst monster finally has an evolution after 23 years

It's taken this useless Pokémon 23 years to receive an evolution.

In just a few days time, the Paldea region will be ours to explore as Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is finally set to release. Have you picked out your starter Pokémon yet? There’s a lot of Sprigatito love, but I think I may opt for Fuecoco. That being said, Sprigatito’s leaked evolutions have left some fans feeling furious - and with good reason.

One thing I cannot wait for is to get my hands on the new memeable ‘mons. Of course, I’m talking about Lechonk, Smoliv and Fidough. Here, have a roundup of wholesome Lechonk memes. The internet is rife with leaks and I’ll be addressing one in this article, so take this as your spoiler warning. With that out of the way, one of Pokémon's worst monsters has finally received an evolution after 23 years.

Check out our preview of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet below.

Poor Dunsparce. This Gen 2 Pokémon first appeared on the scene back in 1999. The problem is, Dunsparce doesn’t do a fat lot. The normal-type Pokémon is thought to be some kind of land snake, living alongside Digletts in underground caves and tunnels. Dunsparces can use the scent of dirt to navigate but otherwise, lack any distinguishing features.

To date, Dunsparce has never had an evolution but that’s now changing as Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will officially introduce Dudunsparce. Seriously. Dudunsparce is pretty much just as useless as Dunsparce. This time around, the Pokémon has grown slightly longer. Dudunsparce has gained an extra body segment, an extra set of wings, an extra eye line, an extra mouth spike, and an extra tail segment. Extra powers though? Jog on. Take a look below.

This certainly feels like an attempt to troll fans. I’m guessing Dududunsparce will be next on the scene in another 23 years. See you back here then?
