It has been almost 10 years since we last got a new evolution of Eevee in any Pokémon game or anime.

That’s a long time. We’ve had so many eeveelutions from other Pokémon types and we were, at one point, supposed to get a flying type, however Pokémon decided against it.

Why? Well, it was recently revealed in the huge Pokémon leak, where countless materials revealed the inner workings of The Pokémon Company, that they didn’t produce a flying Eevee evolution because fans beat them to it.

They’d come up with a design, but it was too similar to that of someone’s fan art.

We have to assume they tried several iterations and couldn’t come up with a good, original design.

This was recently revealed on Reddit to fans of Pokémon and it led to a lot of questions.

“So they do remove designs if they're too similar to Fakemon. Woah. Who knows how many we lost because of it,” said the top comment.

And it does make you wonder.

After all, Pokémon fans have been coming up with original ideas for years and it would spell trouble if any official designs mirrored anything created for the internet.

This begs the question, will we ever see another Eeveelution?

This is echoed by Zynnergy who said, “Deviantart has been pumping out questionable Eeveelution fanart since it's inception. If that's really how this works, we aren't ever getting another Eeveelution again. Sylveon only worked because it released with the new typing.”

Another Redditor summed up the disappointment pretty well by commenting, “welp there also probably goes my hopes of ever getting fighting and poison Eeveelutions if fanart similarities is the issue.”

Let’s just hope when the next game comes out The Pokémon Company have come up with a new type.
