Pokémon fans think they've found a teaser for next game

Cryptic!

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Pokémon fans reckon they’ve found a teaser for the next entry in the series.

It’s not unusual for developers to release teasers for future games in the form of cryptic content found in-game.

With the volume of releases Pokémon manages, with one new entry coming every few years, teasers for future titles are pretty much guaranteed at this point.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is due to release sometime next year.

Now, Pokémon fans believe a very cryptic part of Scarlet and Violet could be a teaser for the next game.

Over on Reddit, user Opusprime15 posted an image of the mysterious Area Zero symbol from Scarlet and Violet, something that hasn’t been explained since the game’s launch.

For those unaware, this area is a hidden cave located in the bottom of Area Zero’s surface layer that is home to the Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant species of Pokémon.

Going to this area results in the symbol seen in the post below.

Not only this, but this pattern also appears on the game’s cover itself.

It was assumed for a long time this secret area would be expanded upon in either of the game’s expansions. The DLC was called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero after all.

And yet, long after the release of the DLC, the question of the meaning behind this symbol has gone unanswered.

Now, fans reckon it’s something that’ll be explained in a future game.

“I bet it’s a ZA reference,” wrote one commenter. “Remember this cave is where you meet Roaring Moon / Iron Valiant who are based on Mega Salamance / Gallade.”

“That could actually make sense,” another user replied. “If this ends up helping solve some side quest in ZA, that would be amazing.”

“Imagine if Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant are in Z-A,” a third user wrote.

The running theory right now is that since this mystery wasn’t solved in Scarlet and Violet, it could be a teaser for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be the sequel to 2022’s Arceus, which had a more action-oriented and open-world focus compared to mainline Pokémon games.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
