Pokemon fans get to return to Kanto, the setting of Pokémon Red & Blue, in 2026 after years of waiting.
The Pokémon series has introduced us to some truly iconic locations over the years, many of which take inspiration from real-life countries.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set in Kalos for example, which is modelled after France, whereas Pokémon Scarlet & Violet had a more Spanish flair to its setting.
Arguably the most iconic Pokémon setting though is Kanto, the one that started it all and even made a comeback as the post-game for Pokémon Gold & Silver, something fans still hail so many years after the game’s release.

Now if you’ve ever wanted to visit Kanto in real-life you’re in luck, as in 2026 Poképark Kanto officially opens to the public.
Based in Tokyo, Japan, Poképark Kanto is an amusement park with attractions, live shows and exclusive merchandise all inspired by the wonderful world of Pokémon. Visitors can check out Sedge Town as well as its Gym, and then have a wander through the Pokemon Forest.
It’s a bit like Super Nintendo World so don’t expect much in the way of rides but it does sound like it’ll be equally immersive.
Pikachu and Eevee are the mascots of the park, and you can pick up some exclusive merchandise sporting the pair to remind you of your visit.
The park opens on 5 February 2026, with tickets going on sale via lottery on 21 November for Japanese residents, with international tickets coming soon. It’d definitely be wise to book in advance as I’d imagine it’s going to be very popular.
If you’re coincidentally booking a trip to Japan for February next year it’s definitely worth checking out, though if you haven’t visited Super Nintendo World yet it might be worth going there first as it might be less busy with the new park opening.
New Games?
Pokemon fans hoping this new park is also hinting at a new game shouldn’t hold their breath, as nothing was said in the latest leaks about a Gen 1 remake. The games aren’t even available on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 yet despite how easy it’d be to port them across.
If Pokémon Red & Blue, and the additional third game Pokémon Yellow, are amongst your favourite games in the series, Poképark Kanto should absolutely be on your list of places to visit in 2026, just don’t miss out on the exclusive merch!
