Yesterday, Sony announced this month’s new “free” games coming to the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus, and many subscribers are unimpressed.
We’ve seen it time and time again before that PlayStation users have been less than thrilled with PS Plus’ offerings. To be fair, when you’re given Hot Wheels Unleashed and told to be happy about it, not everyone can feign excitement. Now though, subscribers have been specifically complaining about the state of the subscription service’s pricey Premium tier.
For those subscribed to PS Plus’ Extra and Premium tiers, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be added to the game library later this month. Take a look at the trailer below.
Over on Reddit, user Therenegadegamer wrote that “Sony needs to step up [their] game with Premium even if this month was a small improvement,” and others are in total agreement.
“I'm definitely not thrilled with Premium. The whole point was the classics, and they are just too few too far apart,” Lopsided_Will9260 replied. “You can't even buy a handful of them unlike on Xbox. The PS3 selections seem to be solid, but can only be streamed. Ugh. So for Premium it just leaves the trials, which being paywalled is already stupid, but what happens after your time runs up for each of them? Then what do you do with that tier? I'm definitely gonna go for Extra when my sub runs out.”

“Here in Brazil we don't have streaming, so the Deluxe tier is [lacklustre]! Only a few classics,” GeorgeLightBR added. “This new addition of the month is AWFUL in my view, I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want to play pinball [on] my PS5, I don't like Oddworld either, Ridge Racer 2 is okay.”
In case you missed it, the classic games being added to the service for Premium subscribers on 20 December are the PSP titles Pinball Heroes and Ridge Racer 2, the PS1 game Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, and PS3’s Heavenly Sword. Meanwhile, Extra tier will be getting Far Cry 5, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, just to name a few.
