PlayStation Plus’ June essential tier offerings have finally been revealed and I’ll admit, it’s by no means the strongest line-up we’ve seen. In fact, it’s far from it. However, there is one gem contained in the three games on offer and it’s one that many PlayStation owners have been desperate to try for quite some time.

In case you missed it, you have just a few more days to grab May’s PS Plus line-up. GRID Legends, Descenders, and Chivalry II will remain available until 5 June. The line-up was branded as ‘trash’ by most subscribers, but others advised that Chivalry II is worth a download and made for the most fun they’d had playing a game in ages. The June offerings will then be live to download from 6 June until 3 July. This month, you can nab NBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2, and Trek to Yomi - and it’s the latter that fans are excited about.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart recently joined the extra tier. It’s well worth checking out.

Trek to Yomi is a side-scrolling action game developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital. It was launched just last year to favourable reviews. In the title, you’ll play as Hiroki, a young swordsman who embarks on a quest to the Japanese underworld, known as Yomi, after his village is burned. It’s clearly the game that PS Plus subscribers are the most excited about.

Reddit user BeauMeringue212 wrote, “Trek to Yomi is exactly the kind of game I look out for each time the essential monthly games drop, something I wouldn't necessarily buy but that has a nice art style and isn't too demanding or time consuming. Look forward to trying it out,” while melbrooksbrothers added, “Really excited for Trek to Yomi, it was something I was really hyped for and then forgot.”

Jay12678 said, “Been wanting to try Jurassic World and Trek of Yomi. Great month,” plus Moriartijs commented, “Trek to Yomi looks right up my alley. I just can not keep up with the great games coming.” Trek to Yomi’s art style is indeed stunning. I too shall be checking it out.
