PlayStation Plus' new freebie 'shouldn't be ignored', subscribers urge

PlayStation Plus' new freebie 'shouldn't be ignored', subscribers urge

Gamers are urging PS Plus subscribers to play Slay the Spire when it comes to PS Plus' Extra-tier game catalogue next week.

Earlier this week, Sony announced a massive lineup of games coming to PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium tiers this month, and gamers are doing their very best to make sure that no one misses out on one particular roguelike gem.

Although this year’s Essential-tier offerings have been a bit hit and miss (looking at you, Battlefield 2042), Extra-tier subscribers have been flooded with genuinely fantastic titles lately. Although the lovely day-one release Tchia was probably the game that drew most people in last month alongside Days Gone, NEO: The World Ends with You is also a brilliant and seriously underrated unique RPG that I’d highly recommend trying if you’ve not already.

Take a look at the trailer for NEO: The World Ends with You below.

From next Tuesday (18 April), PS Plus Extra subscribers can grab Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Doom Eternal and Paradise Killer, amongst many others. However, on Reddit, gamers are singing the praises of one specific addition - the roguelike deck-building game Slay the Spire.

“[Slay the Spire] is my most played game on Switch for two years straight, [definitely] shouldn’t be ignored,” iekue commented. “Been playing almost daily for a year. Incredibly deep and incredibly addictive game,” added Representative-Yam65. “STS is a great game, I never thought I’d enjoy a roguelike so much,” wrote The_Follower1.

Slay the Spire has been offered via PlayStation Plus’ Essential tier before, so if you’ve been subscribed to PS Plus for some time, there’s a chance that you might already have it in your game collection. If not though, this is definitely the perfect time to try it out, although as others have hinted, be warned - it has the potential to eat all of your free time. Just the thought of starting it has my backlog of unfinished games quaking. Just one hour can’t hurt… right?
