PlayStation Plus' brand-new free game launches to rave reviews

Humanity is available now as a day-one release on PS Plus Extra, and it's getting very positive reviews.

There’s no two ways around it - this month’s PlayStation Plus Extra games are fire.

In many ways, May’s additions to the Extra-tier game catalogue have come at the worst possible time, because there’s just too much to play right now. If you weren’t already busy with Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC, Burning Shores, or Dead Island 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor topped off April’s releases with a bang. Then of course, for anyone with a Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also came out last Friday, and I’m sure anyone who was already feeling a bit behind on their games did a rather large gulp as they saw the size of the map. Now though, a new puzzle platformer has released on PS4 and PS5 as a day-one free release for Extra-tier subscribers, and it’s not one to miss.

Take a look at the trailer for Humanity below.

Meet Humanity - a unique game which puts players in the shoes (paws?) of a Shiba Inu. Need I say more? I think not, but I will anyway. Your task is to direct crowds of people through 3D stages and lead them to their goal.

If you’re already subscribed to PS Plus Extra or Premium, Humanity is completely free to play via the service as of today, and if you weren’t already convinced, reviews for it have been overwhelmingly positive. At the time of writing, the game has an average critic rating of 84 on Metacritic, which makes it sit within this year’s top 50 highest-rated games. That might not sound super impressive, but we’ve had a lot of re-releases this year which also account for a lot of that list.

A great new game that’s totally free, what’s not to love? Even if you’re a bit busy with the countless other titles that are out right now, you won’t want to sleep on this.
