The line-up for June’s PlayStation Plus offering is almost here, and fans are anticipating a “good month” for the Essential game selection.

It’s no secret that PlayStation Plus has been severely lacking recently, with May’s offering being regarded as the “worst” month in a long time by fans. This was largely due to the three games offered as part of PlayStation Plus’ Essential tier, which lets players download and keep the games for as long as they have a membership. The line-up consisted of Chivalry 2, Grid: Legends and Descenders, which didn’t go down well with fans.

This was largely due to them being pretty niche titles that would only appeal to gamers who enjoy online multiplayer and racing games, with no good options for those who enjoy a good single-player narrative.

Looking forward though, fans are optimistic that this June’s selection of Essential titles will be a step in the right direction, and are citing the June games from previous years to back up their claims.

Reddit user kabirsingh84 shared a screenshot of previous June offerings, saying: “A look back at June Essential games from the last 5 years. June has mostly been a good month every year, Star Wars and Call Of Duty games being a common theme in the month of June.” It’s true previous June offerings have always included some heavy hitters, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think this year will be no different.

There’s a lot of speculation around what games could appear, something that’s actually dividing a lot of fans. God Of War Ragnarok, Hades, No Man’s Sky and Alan Wake: Remastered are all popular guesses, but until PlayStation officially unveil what’s on the way, last-minute guesses are all we can do.

PlayStation Plus has been pretty controversial this year so far, with many gamers disappointed at titles leaving the service, as well as some disappointing additions to the Extra and Premium tiers. This is a stark contrast to Xbox Game Pass, which seems to be keeping the majority of gamers happy with regular rotations of new and returning games.
