You wouldn't think it to look outside (at least here in the UK) but we're officially well into April. I'm not sure where Spring has sprung, though. Not here, that's for sure.
Ah well. Bad weather means more excuses to stay in and play video games - and the start of a new month means a new lineup of free PlayStation Plus games.
Late last month Sony confirmed (after the now-traditional leak) that the new free games for April 2022 are multiplayer action game Hood: Outlaws & Legends, the fantastic deckbuilding roguelike Slay The Spire, and breezy 3D platformer SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated.

Consider this your reminder that these freebies are officially available to download and add to your library from today (April 5). You do, of course, need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to be able to stick the games in your library at no extra cost, at which point you'll be able to download them at any time - provided your PS Plus subscription is all paid-up.
We've certainly seen worse lineups, haven't we? I can't speak highly enough of Slay The Spire, for one thing. I'd argue it's probably the best free game PS Plus subscribers have had so far this year. I'm often loathe to say a video game is addictive, because that comes with all sorts of unpleasant implications. But you'll certainly struggle to put this one down, that's for sure.
I can't really speak for Hood: Outlaws & Legends, having never played it, but Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is sugary fun that always managed to stand out in an era of formulaic 3D platformers.
All in all, you'll want to get these games downloaded and check 'em out at your earliest convenience. Or don't. I'm not your mother.
