PlayStation 5 Is Finally Getting An App Owners Have Wanted Since Launch

Sony keeps on rolling out updates for the PlayStation 5. In the past few weeks alone, they’ve added support for 1440p HDMI video output, and you can now organise your library in gamelists. There’s also the addition of auto low latency mode control adjustments and a new variable refresh rate feature. Features galore, but it doesn’t stop there. PS5 owners will soon get their hands on a highly-anticipated app.

Have you seen the brand new Backbone One: PlayStation Edition? Check it out below.

Reddit user the_andshrew has revealed that a native Disney+ app is on the way for the PS5 owners. If you’re sitting there thinking, don’t I already have that? Nope. The version installed on your console was actually created for the PlayStation 4. The_andshrew found a beta version of a native PS5 app in the PSN backend and the user announced that the app should allow PS5 owners to support 4K playback.

The_andshrew wrote, “For those who don't know, Disney+ is only available on PS5 at the moment via PS4 backwards compatibility and this version of the app seemingly has issues like not supporting 4K playback. An entry for a beta version (possibly code named ‘Vader’) of a native PS5 version of the Disney+ app has now been published on the PSN backend, so it's likely a general release of the PS5 version is not far away.”

Speaking of Disney+, it’s worth checking out Prey if you haven’t already (US folks will find the film on Hulu instead). The film is the best reviewed Predator film of all time and a great addition to the platform. It could be the perfect way to test out the 4K glory which looks to be on the way.
