As much as we love the PlayStation 5, when it comes to console features, the latest Sony console still lags behind its predecessors.

With fans regularly calling out for dynamic backgrounds such as the ones often added for the PlayStation 4, it seems as though Sony is finally starting to listen.

Well, not with the better dynamic backgrounds, but with a new system update that players are happy to see finally implemented.

Check out ways you can customise your PS5 homescreen in this brand-new trailer!

Kicking off for US and Canadian residents, this brand-new PlayStation 5 system update introduces a number of new features.

More specifically, it includes the Welcome Hub.

With a screenshot posted to the official PlayStation Canada Twitter page, the Welcome Hub is a new “personalised space with customisable widgets and backgrounds in your PS5 home screen”.

It is a reimagined version of the Explore tab and is set to roll out globally over the next few weeks.

As you can see from the screenshot, there are a lot of new additions in the form of widgets.

Now players can see online friends, PlayStation Store, accessibility, trophies, wishlist and friend activity tabs on the home screen.

There is also a section that allows you to easily see your controller battery percentage.

It wasn’t long before the comments were filled with PS5 player’s expressing their reactions to this new change and it ranged from “finally!” to “any way to remove it?”

However, it seems as though it is a good change overall.

“Showed up yesterday, and I couldn't wait to use it!” One fan said.

“Such a helpful hub!”

Another said: Hype!!! Can’t wait to rearrange it and make it look better when the PS5 Pro releases!”

Next stop, dynamic themes.
