Xbox is gearing up to its next-gen console reveal and following a new statement from the company’s Vice President, it’s clear the PlayStation 6 is in trouble.
The console wars rage on as both Xbox and PlayStation duke it out for the title of best console manufacturer.
For the longest time now, PlayStation has had the lead with a better line-up of first-party games in addition to hardware advancements, leaving Xbox in the dust.
Xbox itself has put up a meagre fight too, though the winds are beginning to change now that new CEO Asha Sharma has taken charge, and the company’s next console is on the horizon.
Unifying gamers on both Xbox and PC comes Project Helix, a hybrid console that is said to not just support the digital Xbox store but also Steam and Epic Games.

The latest leaks and rumours make it sound like a beast and it’ll need to be given what we’ve heard about the PlayStation 6.
Pricing will undoubtedly be the deciding factor as both consoles are expected to cost a fortune, comparable to some mid to high-end PCs.
Xbox Vice President Jason Ronald recently delivered a statement to the masses on Project Helix, killing the one chance rivals like the PlayStation 6 and Steam Machine had to achieve an easy victory come 2027.
"Project Helix will be available as a 1st party Xbox console", said Ronald on X, in response to the latest leaks claiming Project Helix isn’t even being made by Xbox.
Third-party concerns have been levied against the company for quite a while now, especially since first-party Xbox games like Halo: Campaign Evolved were confirmed to launch on the PlayStation 5 as well as the Xbox Series X/S.

Part of those concerns were the next Xbox console won’t even be a console at all, but software that could be used on various computing devices.
That’s obviously not the case, though as for better or worse, Project Helix will be a physical console soon-to-be sold by the company.
Devices like the Xbox ROG Ally X haven’t helped with the rumours, but clearly the handheld was an exception rather than the rule. That’s not to say successors won’t be released in the future though.
This confirmation is bad news for the PlayStation 6 as it means Sony will once again have to compete with Microsoft, and while its last few consoles have been considered superior by the majority of gamers, Xbox is making big moves to ensure it’s considered in the next-generation.
Backwards compatibility is a big one as for the 25th anniversary of Xbox the backwards compatibility program is making a return.
The success of the Project Helix remains to be seen, as does the console itself.
One thing is becoming increasingly clear though. Xbox is eager to compete in the console wars again with some much-needed changes to both its hardware and software. Watch out, PlayStation.
