Xbox fans are pleased with the latest update regarding the company’s next home console, after what’s been a rough year for the brand.
The big three in the gaming industry are Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. PlayStation has been doing pretty well with successful exclusives like Ghost Of Yōtei, and Nintendo has found success in simply doing what it wants, without having to compete with the other two companies.
Xbox on the other hand has struggled. It’s been criticised recently for raising the price of Xbox Game Pass as well as not giving gamers a reason to buy its consoles due to a lack of exclusive games.
It’s because of this that many have declared they’re done supporting Xbox entirely, which has led to rumours that plans for the next Xbox console have been scrapped.

Microsoft recently issued a statement saying this isn’t the case and plans for the next Xbox are well and truly underway, which is good news for those who plan to stick around and see what the company does next.
Xbox’s statement to WindowsCentral was shared to the various online forums, garnering a mixed response of those genuinely in support of its future plans and those who just want to see what it can screw up next.
“Good. Microsoft got themselves 2 days of peace before the next rumor so the entire community can get on their toes again. My favorite platform has been exhausting over these last few years” read one of the comments.
“So the same AMD announcement in which they said they want to make Windows (not Xbox) the best platform for gaming?” asked another.

Others saw the statement as nothing more than buying time, like one commenter who said “cause they definitely haven’t lied before. I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Speaking as an Xbox it’s a shame to see the brand flailing like this, and I don’t think a new console is going to fix things.
With more and more previously Xbox exclusive games getting ported to PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch there’s less and less reason than ever to own an Xbox console.
Given everything we’ve seen up to now it’s only natural that fans would be sceptical about the company’s plans for the future, when switching to a third-party business model would probably make the most sense.
