Final Fantasy fans can finally play Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox consoles, though they have to be a new player in order to gain access.

Final Fantasy 14 is an RPG MMO that’s been available for PC players for years now. PlayStation fans eventually gained access to the title, though Xbox players unfortunately had a longer wait before they could finally step foot in the land of Eorzea.

Luckily, Xbox players will finally get their chance to experience the RPG, as a free trial for the online game has been released as part of a beta.

This will give Xbox players a full taste of the game as well as the option to deliver feedback on what worked, what didn’t and what could be done to improve the overall online experience.

The only catch is if you’ve played the game before on any other platform, you won’t be able to download the free trial. Players will need to link their Xbox account to their Square Enix account in order to claim the trial, which won’t be possible if you’ve played it on another platform, so if you’re a PC or PS5 player who wanted to give it a go on another console, you’re out of luck until the full game drops. Luckily that won’t be a long wait, as the full game will launch directly after the beta has finished.

In other news, Final Fantasy fans are patiently waiting for the launch of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, the next chapter of Cloud and the gang’s remade adventure in Midgard. A demo for the game is available right now, with the full game releasing next Thursday on 29 February.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth unfortunately won’t be coming to Xbox consoles anytime soon, so in the meantime why not give Final Fantasy 14 a go? Especially when it’s free.
