Hogwarts Legacy follow-up to be Xbox exclusive

Despite no news about this title for the past two years, rumours are finally beginning to circulate about this upcoming co-op heist game from Avalanche Software.

Now that Avalanche Software is done with Hogwarts Legacy (at least for now), it seems it has turned its attention back to a title that was first announced by Microsoft back in 2022.

Titled Contraband, the co-op heist shooter set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan is a collaboration between Avalanche Software and Xbox Game Studios.

Set to be an Xbox exclusive with it arriving to Xbox Series X/S as well as Xbox Game Pass, Steam and Windows, Contraband seems to be finally picking up speed when it comes to development.

Now, thanks to a recent episode of the Xbox Infinite podcast, we now know that Contraband seems to be inspired by such titles as Battlefield Hardline, Payday, and Driver as well as The Dukes of Hazzard.

With titles such as that, we can expect that Contraband will focus heavily on driving so we'll probably get a lot of epic car chases, explosions and outright chaos.

Not only that but rumours suggest it will be an eight-player co-op title so we can only imagine what will be possible. However, this is just a rumour so take that with a pinch of salt.

With Contraband still in active development between the alpha and beta stages, it will be a while until this title comes to Xbox. As a result, plenty could change from now until release.

This would be a good way for Avalanche Software to get back in player’s good books after the news that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel could be a live-service title. However, this questionable decision seems to be down to Warner Bros which believes the AAA console market is not lucrative enough.
