It is officially just under a year before we finally get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI, and after such a long wait, this exciting news may just make the delay worth it.
Originally scheduled for a fall 2025 release date before being delayed until 26 May 2026 and finally 19 November 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is widely regarded as the most anticipated video game release of all time.
As the next instalment in Rockstar Games’ beloved action-adventure series, the brand-new entry will follow the story of Jason and Lucia, a Bonnie and Clyde-esque couple who will learn all about love and betrayal in equal measure in a new-and-improved Vice City and surrounding areas.
Now with GTA VI just under a year away from release, console owners are gearing up to get stuck in with the title launching on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

For PC gamers, the wait will be quite a bit longer but according to recent news, there may be one another platform which players will be able to dive into GTA VI on.
In the recent Rockstar Games Launcher Update 1.0.105.2705, “improvements have been made to support handheld gaming on Windows PCs”.
With the Rockstar Games Launcher being the official client for the studio’s games on PC, this update will allow users to play the Grand Theft Auto series on the go on handhelds such as the Xbox ROG Ally.
As the update has only just gone live, it remains to be seen how well previous Grand Theft Auto entries will run on the new Microsoft handheld but if it is good news, there will be no reason why users will not be able to use it to play Grand Theft Auto VI when it is released.
Our very own Kate Harrold called the Xbox ROG Ally X an “impressive all-rounder” in her review.
“It boasts the power of a PC, yet is nowhere near as bulky, which comes with the added benefit of allowing me to take it on the go,” she wrote.
“Add in the fact that you can also enjoy your Xbox library and, well, the Xbox ROG Ally X is just an incredibly handy piece of kit.”
Of course, Rockstar has not yet confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be playable on the Xbox ROG Ally but with previous entries being accessible, there is no reason why the next instalment won’t be.
That is unless, of course, it is simply too powerful for the brand-new handheld.
It remains to be seen but it is exciting to learn that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI may be available on at least one other platform come launch.
