Grand Theft Auto VI is finally set to land this year, on 19 November if it isn’t delayed yet again by Rockstar Games.
Ahead of its launch date though, GTA VI has already been dethroned when it comes to one particular accolade concerning its original reveal trailer.
I’m sure you all remember Trailer 1 practically breaking the internet when it first landed on 4 December 2023 - and that’s despite the fact that Rockstar Games was forced to drop the trailer ahead of its announced release after it leaked online.

It was the right move, as GTA VI’s Trailer 1 went on to become the most-watched trailer of all-time.
The trailer surpassed YouTube’s 24-hour view record in a mere 13 hours. It currently sits at 275,000,000 views which, of course, doesn’t account for views on other social platforms.
It’s not the only record secured by Rockstar Games. Also in 2023, Rockstar Games held the three most-liked tweets of all-time.
The top tweet was Rockstar Games’s confirmation of GTA VI’s existence, followed by its response to the GTA VI leaks in second.
As of this week, however, GTA VI is no longer the most-viewed trailer within a 24-hour period.
It’s officially been dethroned by none other than Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Trailer Pulled In More 24-Hour Views Than GTA VI’s
Spider-Man: Brand New Day managed to pull in a whopping 718,000,000 views in just 24-hours across all platforms.
That data was acquired by tracking company WaveMetrix. In comparison, GTA VI pulled in 455 million across all platforms in that same 24-hour period, so Spider-Man: No Way Home has won by quite a wide margin.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day does look fantastic even if it is, at this stage, difficult to work out what the plot is with so many villains involved.
It reveals Spider-Man facing off against The Hand, Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula, Sadie Sink’s new character, and even Frank Castle.
Our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man certainly has his work cut out for him.
As for GTA VI, marketing is expected to ramp up as soon as May.
It was previously confirmed that the game would focus on a summer marketing campaign, and it’s well known that prominent GTA VI reveals fall within a few days of a Take-Two earnings call, the parent company of Rockstar Games.
The next earnings call is in May prompting many to wonder whether that’s when the game’s pre-orders will finally open.
Beyond that, fans are itching to see some gameplay largely unedited with the UI intact; not like that which was used in Trailer 2.
It’s likely GTA VI will set many more new records in the months ahead, but it does seem a shame that it’s lost this one.
