Superhero games are at a peak right now. Last year saw the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a worthy game of the year contender.

I think we’re all itching to see what Insomniac Games is cooking up next with Marvel’s Wolverine. At last month’s The Game Awards, it was also revealed that Arkane Lyon is working on Marvel’s Blade and while we may only have a cinematic teaser trailer, it certainly sets an epic tone. I hear you. Marvel this, Marvel that. DC’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is also on the way and it may be a tonal shock to the system after the Arkham trilogy, but the traversal is shaping up nicely based on the trailers we’ve seen. I think we’d all love to see more DC superheroes explored, including Superman.

Well, while we may not have a bonafide Superman game to feast our eyes upon, upcoming indie action-adventure release Undefeated: Genesis should scratch the itch for all those of you who want to fly around and channel your inner Clark Kent.

Take a look at Undefeated: Genesis in action below.

Developed by Indie-us Games, Undefeated: Genesis is described as a “superhero action game where you can soar freely through the skies of an alien world and unleash awesome powers”. You will “take down giant enemies in huge, destructible environments using your incredible abilities,” and all in all, it sounds pretty fun.

The game centres around a college student who is struck by a meteor. After waking up on a mysterious planet, said student discovers he has been bestowed with various powers. The problem is, it just so happens that the planet is plagued by destructive mutants and yes, it’s up to you to stop them and save the planet’s remaining survivors.

The game is being created in Unreal Engine 5 by a team based in Osaka, Japan. Undefeated: Genesis is set to be the first in a trilogy which aims to pay “homage to superheroes while telling an expansive story”. There’s no release date just yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more.
