Steam users can enjoy six more free games right now

Six further free games have landed on Steam, and we're here to talk you through them.

If you’re on the lookout for some free-to-play gems to add to your backlog, you’re in the right place as six more have landed on Steam.

You know the drill by now. It’s no secret that gaming is an incredibly expensive hobby. The prices of both games and consoles seems to increase with each subsequent generation, and then there’s in-game purchases and subscriptions to factor in - both of which are apparently topping children’s Christmas lists this year. With that in mind, sometimes you may just need a slice of free-to-play fun to give your bank balance a break. After all, we want gaming to be accessible to all regardless of budget, so allow me to walk you through the latest Steam offerings.

PC users can grab Deliver Us Mars for free on the Epic Games Store, but for a limited time only.

As collated by Twitter account SteamGamesPC, you can now nab Retro Commander, Fishing, Shell’s Kitchen, Reptile Chronicles, True Reporter, and Coffee Brakes. Let’s start with Retro Commander. Developed and published by Noble Master, this freebie is a post-apocalyptic real-time strategy war game which has garnered a respectable ‘Very Positive’ review score from fans.

Next up is Fishing Online. Developed and published by Braves, it’s exactly what it sounds like. An online metaverse where you can meet up with friends and fish to your heart’s content in a cartoony world. Shell’s Kitchen is up next. This release comes from developer Stupid Town and in it, you’ll embark on a “culinary adventure where fish serve fish dishes to fishes”. It’s co-op so this could be the perfect game if you’re looking to have some chaotic fun with friends.

The Reptile Chronicles team have brought us a 3D fantasy PvP arena game where you’ll wield “powerful magic” including fireballs and laser beams. In these realtime duals, it’ll be up to you to prove your dominance as the best fighter. GameXP brings us True Reporter: Mystery of Mistwood. If, like me, you’re devastated by having to wait until 2025 for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, you may want to use your puzzle-solving skills to solve the disappearance of Charlie Goodman.

Finally, we have Coffee Brakes. From WorkingTitle, this game sees you battle friends in an office chair joust to the death. It sounds silly but honestly, this one features the gameplay that’s most caught my eye. Those office chair jousts look surprisingly competitive. Hopefully, something here takes your fancy.
