If there's one thing any self-respecting gamer likes, it's being able to play games for free, and in all fairness to Steam as a platform, they do give us plenty of opportunities to do so.
Whether that be through games that are free from the outset, or massive sales that let us pick up usually full priced games for no cost, it's well worth keeping an eye on the store to see what's available.
In good news for all the thrifty players out there, there are three premium games available to play for free for a limited-time, that should help you making a decision on whether you want to buy them forever.
Overall, three games are available to play entirely for free for a limited time only, including two sports games and one of the best ARPGs around.

Up first for those who like swinging things at other things is PGA Tour 2K25, the premier golf simulator with all the licenses that you'd expect from a 2K sports game. It also comes with an in-depth career mode for your current character, with all of the customisation options and stats that make up the game's main modes of progression. That one's available to play until 29 September, after which you'll need to buy it, though it is available at a 40% reduction right now if you do fall in love.
Sticking with sports for a minute with the excellent football arcade game REMATCH, where you control one player in a team for each 5v5 match. The game is much more akin to FIFA Street than it is the mainline games in that series, with a focus on skills and long shots in tight pitches. It's been a bit of a groundbreaking adventure in its short time in the wild, and it's well worth jumping into if you like the sport. That one is also free until 29 September if you fancy giving it a go.
Last up to bat is Diablo IV, Blizzard's flagship ARPG series that continues to take players to the depths of hell whenever it can. Sure, it absolutely goes through some ups and downs, but it is a genuinely good game and still easily one of the best examples of the genre. That one is free until 2 October, so you've got a bit longer if you want to play.
That's the complete roundup, so if you're looking for something to do this weekend, that might be the best first port of call.
