If you are anything like me then the main purpose of having a Steam account is to gradually add interesting looking games to your wishlist.
The benefit of this is always having a selection of games to pick between when you are looking for something new to play. On the negative side, that wishlist can soon get out of hand.
However, I am here to add to it even more by drawing your attention to eight new and interesting looking games that have recently been added to Steam.
Ahead of their full launch, these free demos are available to download and play now and will allow you to try-before-you-buy and help out their developers in the process.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at my latest pick of free Steam downloads.
First up is Hell Bug, a fast-paced roguelite shooter perfect for fans of creepy crawlies.
It will be your goal to expand your army of insects as you crush mutant bugs, unlock new abilities from the corpses of your enemies and build your very own swarm of utter chaos.
With every boss kill helping you get closer to making an undefeatable army, you will have to engage in fast-paced action in order to save your nest and get stronger.

Next is turn-based strategy title Drill Rift.
It will be up to you to build and manage your very own drill outpost by upgrading strategic machinery, leveling up your workforce and balancing resource management, strategic upgrades and, most importantly, madness levels.
Drilling is the only way you will access the best resources but be careful not to drill too deeply or you may awaken something you will have wished you didn’t.
Next is a 2D puzzle-platformer for fans of the Lovecraftian horror genre.

In Perilous Light, you will take on the role of a scared little vampire struggling to survive in a mine ruled over by a monstrous angel.
As a result, a lone light hangs over your head and it will be up to you to avoid it all whilst solving intricate puzzles and manipulating the environment to help you carve out your path to freedom.
Use the darkness as your ally and evade your maddened companions as you fight to overcome the deadly light.

Inspired by the horror movies of the 80s, Everdark: Undead Apocalypse is an action-adventure game which once again takes us into the world of vampires.
In a city infested by the undead, this shooter will see you arm yourself with stakes, garlic, crosses, holy water and a wide arsenal of weapons in order to get through the streets and avoid meeting a grisly end.
This survival shooter features an oppressive environment with nods to classic titles such as Resident Evil, Unreal and DOOM.
Take on the role of a geek devil in this fast-paced boomer-shooter/action roguelike.

In Hell Thug, you will find yourself gaining access to a possession file which can take control of the nervous system of an Automatic Infernal Defense Unit (AIDU).
However, for the AIDU, the only way they can survive is by absorbing the soul of an angel and so it is up to you, tiny demon, to mow down some angels as you steadily reach your demise.
Featuring free-fall combat, ever-changing vertical levels and various upgrades to both your character and their guns, Hell Thug is guaranteed to offer non-stop action.
Another first-person horror game now and this one is guaranteed to have you looking behind you at all times.

In Escape: Mall, you will find yourself waking up in a deserted mall all alone. Or are you?
With no way out except down, you will have to use the ominous elevator to slowly make your way through each level but will you have what it takes to escape before you become a victim of the Anomaly?
With multiple endings and more than 30+ anomalies to discover, this psychological walking simulator will be perfect for the spooky months.
Now for something a bit more wholesome with Nothing Strange Here.
In this cosy exploration game, players will find themselves in the strange yet wholesome town of Larcenest Gap.
It is here that you will take on the role of a reporter and you will need to snap photos, write stories, investigate bizarre encounters and investigate a mystery that lurks beneath the very fabric of the town.
As you explore the strange town, you will get to meet the locals and help them with their problems as you piece together clues in your journal and try to find out what is really happening in Larcenest Gap.
Last but by no means least is Dream Garden, an “easygoing simulation game” where you will get to create your very own tiny garden dioramas.
Choose between a wide selection of plants, decorations and tools in order to create a tranquil and beautiful outdoor space which will act as the perfect retreat.
If you are a fan of building simulators but want something on a much smaller and cosier scale, you will love this one.
