Rockstar Games has finally broken its silence following weeks of GTA VI gameplay leaks, with endless waves of leaked footage and screenshots causing a major stir across social media and putting the highly anticipated game back in the spotlight, perhaps for all the wrong reasons.

By now, many gamers will have seen at least some of the GTA VI gameplay leaks, the next entry in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series. Even if you’ve actively tried to avoid spoilers, the sheer volume of GTA VI leaks circulating online has made them increasingly difficult to escape, particularly if your social media feeds are dominated by gaming content.

Since the first major GTA VI gameplay leak emerged earlier this month, released by individual CYBERLEEK, fans have been waiting for Rockstar Games to publicly address the situation. Now, that response has finally arrived, with the developer sharing an official statement across its social media accounts.

Rockstar Games issues statement on GTA VI gameplay leaks

“Dear all, we know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time,” reads the statement from Rockstar Games.

“We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has — from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know.

"We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve. While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19.

"We want to thank everyone in the community who has reached out with messages of support this past week - your words have meant more to this team than you can imagine. When is the GTA VI Extended Look?

The GTA VI ‘Extended Look’ will premiere on Netflix tomorrow at 3pm ET/8pm UK. It will then be uploaded to the Rockstar Games website and YouTube channel hours later at 9pm ET/2am UK.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
