Steam Hit 2025 RPG Free For A Limited Time

Swords and sorcery in a thrilling fantasy world

Whatever the community feels about Steam and Valve as an organisation, there's not really any way to argue with the fact that it is a brilliant storefront for those who like to main the PC for their games.

Much of that comes down the huge array of discounts, free games and trials on offer, allowing us as consumers to make more informed decisions, and try more of those delicious games.

Today is no exception, and there are some great deals out there, including on one of the more well received RPGs of the last year or so.

Fantasy Extraction with Big RPG Potential

Legacy: Steel and Sorcery is an action-combat PvPvE extraction RPG set in a traditional fantasy world known as Mithrigarde. Able to be played alone or with friends, it's all about slaying enemies and getting your hands on sweet, powerful loot.

The game entered into Early Access in February and it currently sits on Mostly Positive reviews, as the team continues to release regular updates.

The game takes the form of a relatively standard extraction game that is made considerably more interesting by the way the fantasy setting has been folded into the mechanics and tangible gameplay features in Legacy: Steel and Sorcery.

Much of that actually comes between rounds, where you'll be able to interact with the world the developer has created more easily. In their own words, "Respite awaits behind the stone walls of the city. Fortify your elixirs and armaments at shops. Rest in your private room at the inn, organize your stash, and cook a meal for the next adventure."

Equally, much has been made of the environment during each round, and how you'll have to make good use of it as a player to get through it all unscathed.

"The world is part of combat. Warriors can charge through walls and hurl boulders, while priests can levitate over dangers and away from enemies. Each class has unique ways in which they interact with the environment," the developer said.

There are additional progression and RPG elements to be aware of, including reputation with vendors and a player home with the ability to upgrade your lodgings with resources earned.

In great news, the game is totally free to play until 27 October, with all features unlocked for those who do, which should give you more than enough of a look at it to decide if you want to buy. If you do want to take the leap, it's also 25% off the usual price via a special promotion until 29 October
