Steam New Free RPG Has 100 Percent Positive Reviews

An entertaining experience that's also cathartic? Sign me up

We’re all aware that just because a game is free, it doesn’t necessarily make it one worth playing.

Certainly, in such instances all you’ve got to lose is time, but time is a precious commodity too.

Today though, it just so happens that the free game I’m here to tell you about is most definitely worth your time if we’re to go off those respectable 100% ‘Positive’ reviews.

The game in question is Road Trip to the End of the World from Shark and Pelican Games and Alex M. Lee, and it’s available on Steam.

It’s partly a role-playing game, partly a visual novel, and partly a point-and-click adventure where players will embark on a road trip that marks the death of a friendship.

“Andy Min is having the worst summer: on top of dropping out of med school, she’s been uninvited from her ex-best friend’s wedding. Join her and her imaginary friend Fishy on a cross-country drive to eat burgers, crash a wedding, and perhaps even find closure,” the synopsis teases.

The game boasts a fully original soundtrack, “back pain”, “questionable gas station food”, “an imaginary fish friend who loves you very much”, and “and a surprise celebrity guest”, which is an odd line-up of features but there you have it.

The experience should last for one to two hours, so this title isn’t a big undertaking.

Gameplay mainly consists of point-and-click elements so you can largely sit back and enjoy the ride.

As I said, it boasts 100% reviews at the time of writing, so it’s clearly a game that’s dazzling players.

“As someone who may have possibly been in Andy's shoes a few times in my life it's perhaps a little cathartic to be called out in a... maybe hopeful way. Also all the art is cute,” wrote one reviewer.

“I think everyone should play this game. It's a remarkable exploration of friendship and relationships that you don't often see in stories and media. It's sweet, charming, and sincere. It is deeply funny and constantly hits you when you least expect it. I played through an earlier version of this game. I know how it ends. I still cried when I played through it a second time,” added another player.

Uh oh, sounds like I should bring my tissues with me.
