There's something about co-op releases that really make them feel like gaming in their purest form (when done well). Getting together with a friend, either online or in real life, and working together to beat a game is one of those experiences you can't really explain to people until they've done it.
Though couch co-op has been forgotten by some developers over the years, online play has remained a very popular way of making a game. From A Way Out to It Takes Two, there's a little something out there for everyone. Which brings us onto our latest contender - Together in Forgotten Lands: Chapter One.
The entire game is set in an enormous cave bristling with magic, and it's your job to work with a friend to unlock its mysteries and what exactly its doing there.
As with many co-op games, it isn't about handling super tough mechanics or shooting your way through hordes of enemies. Instead, Together in Forgotten Lands is a touch more cerebral, with puzzles being the main mechanic that you'll have to overcome on your way to victory.

That's not to say there won't be plenty of difficulties along the way, with developer Vellichor Games stressing that it's about how you work together more than anything. "Light-based puzzles, intricate labyrinths, platforming trials, and musical riddles await those who dare to enter. Every puzzle requires teamwork, every obstacle demands coordination, and every step forward unearths another piece of a forgotten past," they explain on the game's store page.
Together in Forgotten Lands: Chapter One is totally free to play and currently sits on universally positive reviews on Steam from all of those who played and rated it. With so little risk to jumping on and giving it a try with your closest buddy, what are you waiting for?
