Steam quietly makes highly rated game free to download and keep forever

Your weekend entertainment sorted

In the words of Daniel Craig, “Ladies and gentleman, the weekend”.

Here it rolls around again. The question is, what are you playing this time around?

Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws is finally out for everybody to enjoy, and I’m imagining that plenty of people will be diving into that.

That being said, it is proving to be far more of a marmite game than any of us were perhaps expecting.

If it isn’t your personal cup of tea, I have a recommendation that won’t cost you a penny.

PC players can now pick up Desert Fox’s Bad Dream: Fever totally free of charge on Steam as developers have just made the game free-to-play.

Part point-and-click adventure, part horror, part detective adventure, Bad Dream: Fever is a game with mass appeal.

“The world is covered in strange ink, an unknown plague has gathered its cruel harvest. The city seems to be completely empty and dead, but in its every corner there are manifestations of fear, sorrow, loneliness and suffering,” reads the synopsis.

In just one week, Astro Bot launches on PlayStation 5. Take a look at the game in action below.

It’s up to you to avoid this dangerous plague, attempting to save those falling victim to the ink’s powers.

As the game teases though, the ink can change “a strong, healthy person into a complete wreck”.

As well as surveying your surroundings and avoiding the ink, you’ll need to solve a number of riddles.

The game boasts a very respectable score of 80% on Steam, garnering it the rating of Very Positive.

Over on Metacritic, reviewers were also favourable.

“Overall, Bad Dream: Fever is a beautifully written, beautifully drawn, beautifully designed game that does a tremendous job moulding a realistic world with the uncertainty of a nightmare,” wrote Hooked Gamers.

“Bad Dream: Fever rises above its predecessor due to several design improvements. While staying true to the nightmarish concept and the leaps of logic that entails, the sequel offers more solid footing for those willing to take the plunge into the surreal,” added Adventure Gamers.

Bad Dream: Fever is available for free now on Steam.
